Keep the fire going.
Lead a group of men year-round. Keep the fire from MAN CAMP burning long after the weekend ends.
That’s where YOU come in.
You don’t need to be a biblical scholar or have all the answers.
You just have to be available.
No man was made to fight alone.
A weekend was never meant to carry a man through the other 362 days of the year. Guys go home, life gets loud, and they drift back into isolation. The fire goes out.
You don't have to have it all figured out.
Stepping up can feel intimidating. We get it. You won't be on your own. We'll give you the questions, a simple plan, and a team behind you.
[Leader quote or stat goes here. Example: "I almost didn't sign up. Now six guys show up every month." — Name, Unit Leader]
Here's the plan.
1. List your unit. It takes two minutes.
2. Invite a few guys. We'll email you when someone joins.
3. Meet and talk. Use our questions and the ABCD guide below.
Not ready yet? Browse the unit questions and see what a gathering looks like.
OK. But I have some questions
We have some answers. But we also trust that you can figure this out.
Leading a unit year-round is just like leading conversations around the campfire at Man Camp. Instead of asking men to join another Bible study or book club, you’re creating a space for them to build authentic friendship with other dudes. This is an opportunity to be KNOWN. More than fantasy football buddies. We’re talking about real conversations about what’s going on in our lives. That takes time and trust.
-
Believe it or not, you don’t actually have to have a full on Bible study or read a book in order for God to move in the lives of men. God can and will show up and move if you’re intentional and paying attention looking for Him.
Here’s a simple structure we recommend. It’s as simple as ABCD.
A–Ask Questions.
Give guys space to process what is going on inside them. Questions work great. We created a list for you. You can check them out here, and even save them as an app on your phone.B–Be vulnerable.
Leaders go first. Be authentic. Share your struggles and victories. This allows other guys to do the same.C–Commit to Confidentiality
Remind guys that what’s shared in the unit, stays in the unit.D–Develop each other
Make sure every guy knows he belongs, and challenge him to grow in following Jesus when appropriate. This will get you started. If you find something that works better. Great.
-
Whatever is sustainable for you for the long-haul.
Once a month (suggested)
Bi-weekly
Once a week
Pick a date. Pick a time. Stick with it. A lot of groups fail because the times are random, or no one knows when the next meeting is. Do your best to keep that time sacred. The goal is for your group to find a rhythm that works best for you.
Hebrews 10:25 reminds us to “ not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
-
That’s a good sign that you’re stepping outside of your comfort zone. If you follow the simple steps outlined above, you’ll do great. You aren’t signing up to be someone’s therapist
-
You’ll get an email notification when someone registers for your unit. Reach out to him within 24 hours and welcome him.
But don’t just wait for guys to show up. God gave you a sphere of influence. Use it. Invite guys into community and experience the type of adventure you were made for.
