Get ready for MAN CAMP
This should give you just about everything you need to know for MAN CAMP.
Have a question beyond what’s covered here? Talk to your Trip Captain (if you don’t know who that is yet, he will reach out to you about a month before camp.
THE BASICS
Event dates are October 17-19, 2025.
You’re traveling with your unit to 420 Neville Penn Schoolhouse Road, Felicity Ohio.
The nearest airport is the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), approximately 45 minutes away.
Keep in mind this event runs Friday at 1600 EST until Sunday around 1300 EST. You will want to plan flights around that timeframe, factoring in travel to and from the property.
Communications and Emergencies
Generally, we’re off the grid during MAN CAMP. We’ll be putting away cell phones before we head out to the campsite.
If there’s an emergency at home: Before MAN CAMP, your Trip Captain will give you a phone number for your family to call in the event of an emergency.
If there’s an emergency at MAN CAMP: We’ll have a medical response team onsite, and a way to get you from the campsite to a hospital.
What to Pack
Everything you pack needs to fit into whatever you can carry. Large hiking backpacks are great and most guys can fit everything they need for the weekend in one bag. Wagons are also fine to bring. You’ll be hiking with all your gear up to a mile down a gravel road, so pack accordingly.
CLOTHES. Two main ideas: keep yourself dry, and dress in layers. Extra socks, a jacket for night, a rain layer, etc. You’ll also want work boots, or something rugged enough to handle hiking in the woods.
TOILETRIES. You pretty much just need Wet Wipes (for pooping in the woods) and a small towel (like a shammy, just in case). There is no running water, but there are also porta potties. A toothbrush and toothpaste is sort of optional. Don’t bother with a razor. You probably don’t need deodorant, unless it’s that prescription kind.
FOOD. We’ll supply lunch on Saturday, as well as beer/soda/water for the weekend. Beyond that, you’ll need to bring your own food for dinner Friday, Saturday breakfast and dinner, and Sunday breakfast. Bring stuff that can be stored without refrigeration, or freeze it ahead of time and thaw it over the fire. Work with your Unit to coordinate and think about meals that don’t need a whole lot of prep time (unless you’re a campfire gourmet). Clif-Bars, jerky, cheese and crackers, and Mountain House meals are all great options.
INDIVIDUAL CAMPING GEAR.
Make sure you get ahold of all of this stuff:
UNIT CAMPING GEAR.
Make sure you’re covered with all these between everybody in your unit:
OPTIONAL CAMPING GEAR.
Bring this if you have it, and if you have room.
WHAT NOT TO BRING.
Seriously you won’t need this stuff anyway.
